About

At Joyfulbirths, I am dedicated to providing you with the resources to achieve the safest, healthiest and most joyful birth possible.  A woman’s body is perfectly designed for giving birth, and you can learn how to work with your body to give birth naturally!  My passion is to help expectant parents understand the natural birth process, make informed choices, and take responsibility for their baby’s health from conception to birth and beyond!

There is a “Have it your way” kind of attitude among people in our society, saying it doesn’t make a difference how the baby was born as long as it gets here. But my question is, what do babies want?… what do they need for their optimal development?  What kind of birth will leave the mother feeling empowered, joyful, and ready to embrace motherhood?  I believe babies need to be nurtured in the womb and be allowed to be born when they are ready. They need to benefit from the natural process of labor and not have unnecessary drugs going into their little bodies that they have to process on their own. They want to be born safely and gently right into their mother’s arms where they can stay and be nurtured in the “outer womb”, feeling the connection and warmth of breastfeeding.

This is the “ideal” scenario of birth that is attainable for the majority of healthy mothers with healthy babies. I want to help couples know how to get here.  And even if complications arise along the way, I prepare and support parents to handle this in a positive way for the best possible outcome. This is why I started Joyfulbirths.

  • Client Testimony – Julia

I am a successful VBAC! I think that is the most exciting part. I was able to have a baby the way God intended and it was such an awesome experience. It was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, but I did it. We have a beautiful little girl and we’re so thankful. One of the highlights I think, was the fact that my water broke and the midwives were calm about me waiting until labor started. If I would have had a doctor, I feel I probably would have had another cesarean. I am really pleased with how everything turned out and I have no regrets. -Julia

*Julia had a lot going on in this difficult labor: water broken 48 hours before a 36 hour posterior labor and 5 hours pushing. But, she did it naturally and safely with her midwife’s support. She has since had twins naturally at home.
