About Jessica
I am a certified childbirth educator with the Bradley Method® of Natural Childbirth and a labor doula certified with CAPPA. I have been a Bradley® teacher since 2002 both in Portland, Oregon and in Monument, Colorado since 2006 and have attended the births of many of my students as a doula.
My husband, Sean, and I have two sons—Noah and Reid. I have had natural Bradley® births each time, resulting in very healthy babies and a quick and easy recovery for me! Each one of my labors was different. My first was long and took a lot of endurance, and my second was not as long but took a lot of hard work in late labor. I have also had the experience of giving birth in the hospital with a certified nurse midwife and at home with a direct-entry midwife. So, I can relate to the benefits of each choice. I can honestly say that the methods taught by the Bradley® classes work—not only for the short [relatively] easy labors (which I have never had!), but also for the long, hard ones as well. It was a very empowering experience to work hard and allow my body to give birth naturally.
I am a stay at home mom and we home educate our children. I have a Master’s degree in Psychology and a background as a certified counselor working with children and adolescents. I have worked as a breastfeeding counselor with the Nursing Mother’s Council of Oregon. I am a member of La Leche League International, CAPPA, the American Academy of Husband-Coached Childbirth, and the Birth Network of Colorado Springs.
My goal is to help more mothers and babies to experience the benefits, healthy outcomes, and JOY of natural childbirth!
